CRESCENT SAIL YACHT CLUB
2003 FLEET RACING INSTRUCTIONS

1.0 Rules

The current USSA racing rules ("Rule(s)") govern these races except as modified by the individual class rules and by these instructions.

2.0 Entry

All CSYC members are eligible competitors. A limited number of non-CSYC competitors are welcome if sponsored by a CSYC member. The RC chairman must be notified of any guest entries prior to the warning signal.

3.0 Notices to Competitors

All official notices will be posted on the race committee bulletin board at the clubhouse.

4.0 Changes to Sailing Instructions

Any changes in the sailing instructions will be posted one hour before the first scheduled start on the day it will take effect.

5.0 Courses

5.1 The course supplement shows the courses including approximate angles between legs and the order in which the marks are to be rounded. For Lake Starts, one course mark shall be placed within several hundred feet of the club property, thereby defining proximity of the course to the club.

5.2 If no number appears after the letter, the course is once around. If number "2" appears after the letter, the course is twice around. (Special Note: The Cal 20 and Flying Scot Fleets will only sail once around.)

5.3 Generally, all marks are left to port. If, however, marks are to be left to starboard, a green flag will be flown from the RC flagstaff.

5.4 Courses will not be changed during races.

6.0 Marks

All course marks will be orange.

7.0 Starting Line

The starting line will be designated by a line between the starting buoy and the RC flag on the RC boat or on the judges stand. No yacht may make a legal start from within the outer harbor.

8.0 Starting Sequence

8.1 Classes start in the order and at the times scheduled below. If a class fails to appear, the Race Committee has the option to drop the missing class from the starting sequence, with all subsequent classes moved ahead.

8.2 Races will be started using rule 26.

8.3 New or emerging fleets may request a special start at the end of the normal sequence by informing the RC chairman.

8.4 When two or more races are scheduled, they will be run back-to-back.

8.5 Yachts whose warning signal has not been made shall keep clear of the starting area and of all yachts whose warning signal has been made.

8.6 A yacht shall not start later than 5 minutes after the starting signal for its class.
